NEW ORLEANS -- The NFL has named Drew Brees one of the four captains for the 2014 Pro Bowl.
St. Louis Rams defensive end Robert Quinn, Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt join Brees as captains. Brees will be paired with Quinn.
Brees threw for 5,162 yards and 39 touchdowns in 2013 with just 12 interceptions.
Five Saints are on the NFC Pro Bowl squad, with more possibly to come after current Pro Bowlers sit out for the Super Bowl or due to injury. Tight end Jimmy Graham, defensive end Cameron Jordan and guards Jahri Evans and Ben Grubbs will join Brees in Hawaii.
This will be the first year of the Pro Bowl Draft. Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders, with guidance from the captains, will pick Pro Bowlers for their teams, much like kids during recess. The Pro Bowl in the past had pitted the AFC versus the NFC.
The Pro Bowl is set for Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.
