Buried in a New York Times article about the tenuous short-term future of the Saints is a report that Fox Sports is open to the idea of adding Sean Payton as an analyst during his suspension.

“Our feeling about Sean is that he’s bright, articulate and obviously contemporary,” Lou D’Ermilio, Fox’s senior vice president for communications, told the New York Times. “Any network with N.F.L. rights would have to consider it.”

The league responded by saying any non-NFL employment is "not our decision."

ESPN, NBC and CBS reportedly indicated on Friday that they weren't planning on signing the Saints head coach.

Because the NFL suspended him for the full season without pay, Payton is set to miss out on around $7.5 million in salary next year.
