Jim Henderson did a short live report with Eric Paulsen at Noon. Here is the transcription.
Eric: Some Saints fans are looking at this as a sure win, but the Saints aren’t looking at it that way.
Jim: No, and they shouldn’t. They’re 4 ½ to 5 point favorites, but the 49ers are already painting this as a must win situation. They had such high hope sin the offseason after an 8-8 season and a 4-0 preseason. They play in a very weak NFC West division and a lot of people were talking about them as champions of the division, with a chance to return to the postseason for the first time since 2002 and then they laid a horrendous egg last week at Seattle, losing 31-6, so this is a team that, just one game into the season, feels that it is in a desperate situation.
Eric: And there were some desperate teams yesterday that came back and won.
Jim: Yes, it’s very difficult to get off 0-2 in a season and come back to make the playoffs or win a division championship, conversely, the Saints are trying for their second consecutive 2-0 start to a regular season – of course last year they won their first 13 – but this would be the first time they start off 2-0 in consecutive years.
