METAIRIE, La. — Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael said Wednesday that he had not been contacted by representatives of Boston College in connection with the Golden Eagles’ head coaching opening.

When asked about reports of Boston College’s interest, Carmichael said he first heard about it from a PR representative with the Saints.

“I have heard nothing from Boston College and there is not even time to think about it this week,” said Carmichael, who added that he didn’t think his agent had been contacted either. “It’s a short week, big game for us, so our focus right now is on the Atlanta Falcons.”

Carmichael, who attended Boston College on a four-year baseball scholarship, said he was flattered to be linked to the position. But he said his focus was on New Orleans’ Thursday night game.

“Listen, right now I haven’t even given it a second thought,” he said.

Carmichael was under consideration for openings in Indianapolis and Oakland a year ago. He has been with the Saints since 2006, reuniting with quarterback Drew Brees after a year apart. The two were together in San Diego from 2002-05.
