The NFL draft will receive two more weeks of hype than usual in 2014.
The league announced Tuesday next year’s draft will be May 8-10, two weeks after its regularly scheduled date.
According to an NFL release, the decision was made because of a Radio City Music Hall. The league, however, said no decision has been made as to whether the move will be permanent.
This is the first change to the NFL’s draft since the league expanded it to three days in 2010, moving the first round to Thursday, second and third rounds to Friday and the final four rounds to Saturday.
In addition to announcing the change to the date, the NFL said the combine will be held February 18-25 with the new league year beginning March 11. Both are earlier than in the past.
