The Saints signed cornerback Elbert Mack one day after releasing Jerome Murphy, beefing up a secondary that has yet to be at full strength this season.
Additionally, the team released receiver Adrian Arrington from injured reserve, coming to an injury settlement with the fifth-year player.
Mack’s signing puts five cornerbacks on New Orleans’ roster. But Johnny Patrick missed last week’s game with a thigh injury, meaning that, until otherwise noted by the team, the Saints still have only four healthy cornerbacks – Jabari Greer, Patrick Robinson, Corey White and now Mack.
The newly-signed cornerback spent training camp with the Saints and initially made the 53-man roster. He was subsequently cut when the team claimed Murphy off of waivers on Sept. 2.
