METAIRIE, La. – Defensive end Turk McBride returned to practice Tuesday, his first time working out with the team since getting injured in the preseason opener.

Additionally, running back Darren Sproles returned to the practice field for the first time in more than a week.

Both, acting head coach Joe Vitt said, were good signs.

“I think if this were a regular season game, both would go this week,” Vitt said.

The Saints still were missing nine players from practice, though the only new player added to the list was defensive back Marquis Johnson, who sat out with swelling in one of his knees.

Running back Mark Ingram (knee) returned to practice after sitting out Monday for a normal off day.

Cornerback Jabari Greer (sports hernia) and linebacker Curtis Lofton (ankle) both were at practice watching from the sideline.

Receivers Nick Toon (foot), Andy Tanner (ankle) and Adrian Arrington (knee) along with cornerback Kamaal McIlwain (groin), defensive tackle Tom Johnson (ankle) and linebacker David Hawthorne (knee) were not at practice.
