METAIRIE, La. — Three players began training camp on the physically unable to perform list Friday as the Saints started in-season workouts for the first time since the 2012 season.
Outside linebacker Victor Butler (left knee), cornerback Patrick Robinson (right knee) and receiver Marques Colston (foot) all were sidelined while rehabilitating from various offseason issues.
Additionally, receiver Jarred Fayson was out with dehydration while defensive end Kenyon Coleman had the flu.
Two players who were PUP possibilities heading into Friday – Roman Harper and Kenny Stills – both practiced.
Of those on PUP, Colston is the likeliest to return quickly as coach Sean Payton said Thursday he was looking at sitting out no longer than a week.
Robinson, meanwhile, is week-to-week and was doing rehabilitation runs during parts of practice. He had arthroscopic surgery during the offseason.
Butler tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during organized team activities and had surgery to repair it. If he’s able to return, it wouldn’t be until late in the season.
