NEW ORLEANS -- ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that former Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has chosen to sign a deal with the San Francisco 49ers over the New Orleans Saints.
49ers reached agreement on a one-year deal with former Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 2, 2013
Schefter said the deal is worth up to $3 million.
Asomugha struggled in the last two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he was widely considered one of the best corners in the game during his first eight years in the league in Oakland.
Asomugha had visited the Saints -- whose defensive coordinator Rob Ryan coached Asomugha in Oakland -- last month and was reportedly torn over the choice.
The 31-year-old cornerback likely will have to compete with Carlos Rogers for a starting job.
