NEW ORLEANS -- Safety Malcolm Jenkins has agreed to a free agent deal with Philadelphia, ending his five-year run with the Saints that included a Super Bowl and four playoff berths, the Eagles announced Tuesday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the move, which pegs the deal at three years, $16.25 million.

Jenkins was the unquestioned leader in the defensive backfield this past season, helping transform the league’s worst defense into one of its best.

In five years in New Orleans, who took him with the 14th overall pick in 2009, Jenkins finished with 276 tackles, six interceptions and 38 passes defensed.
