METAIRIE, La.  – Saints free safety Malcolm Jenkins sat out Tuesday’s practice to rest an injury that happened late in Monday’s session.

Jenkins missed with right knee injury, but Saints coach Sean Payton said the starting defensive back should be back by Saturday’s preseason game at Houston.

Also out Tuesday were linebackers Ezra Butler (sports hernia), Ramon Humber (right quad) and Clint Ingram (right hamstring); defensive end Jeff Charleston (left ankle) was dressed but didn’t practice in team; defensive tackle Tom Johnson (left calf); cornerback Johnny Patrick (right knee); tackle Alex Barron (left meniscus); and defensive back Leigh Torrence (right hip).

Payton said all of the injured players with the exception of Butler will make the trip. Payton said Butler sports hernia procedure might keep him from traveling.
