NEW ORLEANS – Saints outside linebacker Scott Fujita will test the free agent market beginning this weekend with a visit to Cleveland.
ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter reports that Fujita will go to the Browns on Saturday in his first visit as an unrestricted free agent.
Fujita (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) finished the 2009 season with 76 tackles, two forced fumbles and three passes defensed even though he missed five games with knee and calf injuries.
He finished tied for third in the NFL in 2009 in takeaways by a linebacker with four – two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
The eighth-year pro came to the Saints in 2006 after stops in Dallas and Kansas City.
The only other starter who is an unrestricted free agent is Darren Sharper, whom the Saints didn’t tender to let the market set his value.
The expectation is that the Saints would like the market to set the value for both.
