METAIRIE, La. – Cornerback Tracy Porter practiced for the first time in training camp after missing the first 12 sessions on the failed physical list while he rehabilitated his surgically repaired left knee.

Meanwhile, receiver Marques Colston (right knee) returned after sitting out six practices in seven days while he let irritation in his knee subside.

Defensive tackle Tom Johnson (left calf), running back Joique Bell (left knee - posterior cruciate ligament) and rookie cornerback Johnny Patrick (right knee – medial collateral ligament) all sat out practice after picking up injuries in the game.

As for Bell and Patrick, Saints coach Sean Payton said the players got good news after the game.

“Both of those ended up a little better than we initially thought,” Payton said.

Both Patrick and Bell will rest at least a week, though Payton said it’s possible they might return earlier than expected.

Also missing practice, linebacker Ezra Butler (left hamstring, sports hernia), linebacker Ramon Humber (right hamstring), linebacker Clint Ingram (right hamstring), defensive end Jeff Charleston (ankle) and tackle Alex Barron (left knee – meniscus).

Receiver Adrian Arrington (left ankle) returned full, as did receiver Robert Meachem (low back bruise).

Additionally, running back Chris Ivory (left foot, sports hernia) and defensive end Greg Romeus (right knee) remain on the failed physical list.
