METAIRIE, La. – Saints quarterback Drew Brees was named the NFC Player of the Week after a stellar performance in New Orleans’ 62-7 win over Indianapolis on Sunday night.
Brees was 31 of 35 for 325 yards with five touchdown passes and no interceptions. He had a 144.9 passer rating.
The game was the 32nd time Brees threw for 300-plus yards in a game and was the fourth time in his career he threw five touchdowns passes and no interceptions, tying him with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning for most in NFL history.
Brees’ brilliance continued – Sunday marked the 34th-consecutive game he had thrown a touchdown pass, third-longest streak in NFL history and has had at least 20 completions in 27 straight games.
