METAIRIE, La. ― Tight end Jeremy Shockey sat out Tuesday’s practice, the first time he has missed a practice in nearly a month.
Shockey got “dinged” in the game against San Diego, Head Coach Sean Payton said.
He left the game early in the second quarter after making a 19-yard reception. Chargers cornerback Antoine Cason hit Shockey hard in the back on the play and Shockey got off the turf slowly.
Right cornerback Tracy Porter also sat out despite going through Monday’s session.
Joining those two were offensive tackle Zach Strief (right knee), middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma (groin), outside linebacker Stanley Arnoux (right ankle) and strong safety Pierson Prioleau (right knee).
PUP players Darren Sharper (left knee) and Clint Ingram (left knee) remained out.
As for going to Tennessee for Thursday’s preseason finale, Porter, Prioleau, Ingram, Sharper, Strief and Vilma won’t travel, Payton said.
