Saints announce practice squad, slip draft pick through waivers

METAIRIE, La. – The Saints were able to get one of their draft pick through waivers Sunday, placing him on the practice squad along with seven other players.

Seventh-round pick Nate Bussey was picked up by New Orleans for the practice squad, giving him a chance to develop into a player the team hopes can contribute in the future.

Meanwhile, quarterback Sean Canfield will spend his second year on the Saints practice squad.

The Saints’ practice squad also consists of tight end Michael Higgins, cornerback Terrail Lambert, defensive tackle Swanson Miller, long-snapper Kyle Nelson, center Cecil Newton and receiver Andy Tanner
