SEATTLE - The Saints team plane was grounded Monday night due to unspecified problems, leaving the team stranded in Seattle for another night.
Eyewitness News reporter Jaclyn Kelley said she has been told that the team is expected to depart Seattle about 8 a.m., returning to Armstrong International about 2 pm Tuesday.
As it was, the team was facing a long flight home and an arrival in the wee hours Tuesday before the problems. The extra night may push back preparations for Carolina Sunday night - a game that has taken on even more significance after the team was badly beaten by Seattle Monday night.
A loss at home to the red-hot Panthers would put the Saints in second place in the division with a game at Carolina two weeks down the road.
Saints safety Rafael Bush, after finding out about the plane difficulties, tweeted, "This night couldn't get any worse."
