Free agency may be the first activity of the next season for NFL teams, but it’s when offseason workouts and organized team activities start that the buildup really begins.
Thursday, the NFL announced dates for every team.
The Saints’ offseason workouts begin April 21. The team’s OTA’s run from May 27-29, June 3-5 and June 16-19. New Orleans’ mandatory minicamp is June 10-12.
According to league rules agreed to under the CBA, each team’s offseason is split into three phases.
In phase one, two weeks of activities limited to strength and conditioning as well as rehabilitation are allowed.
The next phases, a three-week block, includes individual player instruction and drills. No live contact or offense vs. defense is allowed.
And finally, in phase three, teams may conduct 10 days of OTAs. While there can’t be any live contact, 7-on-7, 7-on-9 and 11-on-11 is allowed.
