METAIRIE, La. ― The Saints have placed running back Mark Ingram and linebacker Will Herring on the injured reserve list, the first players to go on the list in more than a month.
In their place, the Saints signed offensive lineman Eric Olsen and bumped up linebacker Nate Bussey from the practice squad.
Ingram missed six games in his rookie year, including the final four of the regular season. He injured his the big toe on his left foot during New Orleans’ Dec. 4 win over Detroit.
Herring left Sunday’s win over Carolina and didn’t return. He was inactive for five weeks, missing games against Jacksonville, Carolina, Tampa bay, Indianapolis and St. Louis with a left hamstring injury.
Bussey was a seventh-round draft pick by the Saints in the 2011 draft.
