METAIRIE, La. — The Saints have placed rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro on injured reserve, officially ending his season after he broke his fibula in Charlotte.
The move opened up a roster spot, which the Saints filled with Terrence Frederick, a second-year player out of Texas A&M who most recently was on Cleveland’s practice squad.
Frederick (5-foot-10, 187 pounds) played in two games with the Giants a season ago, finishing with two tackles.
He was a seventh-round pick by Pittsburgh in 2012 and was waived after the preseason.
Vaccaro was third on the team with 92 tackles and one sack. He had one interception and six pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
