NEW ORLEANS — Now New Orleans knows its fate.
Nearly 10½ hours after the day began, the Saints will head to Philadelphia for a 7:10 p.m. Wild Card playoff game on Saturday.
New Orleans (11-5) clinched a playoff berth earlier Sunday with a 42-17 win over Tampa Bay.
The Saints head in as the No. 6 seed a month after they appeared destined for the No. 2 spot. But a 2-3 finish, including three losses on the road, sealed their fate as a Wild Card team.
The Eagles, meanwhile, won the NFC East with a 24-22 win over Dallas Sunday. Philadelphia (10-6) is the No. 3 seed.
Seattle is the No. 1 seed while Carolina is No. 2. Green Bay clinched the NFC North and the No. 4 seed with a win at Chicago on Sunday. San Francisco earned the other Wild Card spot.
