NEW ORLEANS — For the second time in the Sean Payton era, the Saints will play in the NFL’s first preseason game, the Aug. 5 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, an NFL source confirmed.

The Saints volunteered to play in the game, according to FOXsports.com’s Alex Marvez.

With Willie Roaf getting inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame that weekend, the Saints’ playing in the game makes sense. They last played in the game in 2007 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

New Orleans will now play five preseason games with the addition of the Hall of Fame Game.
