Pre-Bountygate and before Drew Bress’ contract talks, the biggest controversy Saints fans fumed and fussed over in recent times was Sean Payton buying a house in the Dallas area, fueling rumors that the team’s head coach was headed to the Dallas Cowboys to become the general manager.

That home that sparked such controversy apparently is for sale.

The home is the tony subdivision of Vaquero in Westlake, Texas just outside of Dallas. Payton leased the home from Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira. The 8,554-square foot home is listed for $3,995,000.

The leasing of the home by Payton forced him to tell fans that he would commute between his new home in Dallas and New Orleans to squelch rumors he was headed to the Cowboys.

No word whether Payton will lease or purchase another home in the Dallas area.
