METAIRIE, La. — Running back Pierre Thomas and outside linebacker Junior Galette were among eight players who sat out the Saints’ evening full-padded practice Sunday.
But coach Sean Payton once again chose not to elaborate on the injuries, saying only that Galette likely won’t practice Monday while Thomas’ timetable was unknown.
“What I’ll do, rather than go through all these guys, when they’re back, I’ll just brief you on it,” Payton explained.
Quarterback Seneca Wallace (groin) and defensive end Tom Johnson (hip) both were full.
Galette sat out with his left knee covered in an athletic wrap while Thomas spent time watching the session from behind.
Inside linebacker Jonathan Vilma, receiver Marques Colston, offensive guard Andrew Tiller, center Eric Olsen, inside linebacker Ray Shipman (hamstring) and outside linebacker Martez Wilson (left elbow) all didn’t go through practice.
All eight players sat out New Orleans’ Friday preseason opener against Kansas City.
“They’re all doing well,” Payton said. “We’re being smart with the rehab, being patient.”
The Saints also put receiver Chris Givens on the injured reserve after he cleared waivers.
