ATLANTA, Ga. - Saints owner Tom Benson was tested for a concussion after tripping, falling and hitting his head at the owners' meetings Tuesday.
Benson's wife Gayle said that doctors checked him for a concussion and cleared him to fly home.
Benson was taken away in an ambulance after the incident, which apparently occurred after the owners' vote on awarding the Super Bowl.
"Following my presentation, I accidentally tripped, and hit my head, having had knee surgery just over a week ago," said Benson in a statement. "Out of an abundance of caution the doctors wanted to clear me before we fly back home tonight."
Benson made the flight to Atlanta to help with the pitch and offer support for the Super Bowl effort. He recently underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.
