******

1. Florida- The toughest hurdle of the season was passed by winning at Death Valley. It looks like a 12-0 regular season is going to happen.

2. Alabama- Speaking of a 12-0 regular season, the SEC West looks the Tide's to lose. A Florida-Alabama SEC title game is looking like the lock of the year.

3. Texas- The Horns sputtering against Colorado in the first half dropped them in the national polls. They haven't shown me anything yet, but staying undefeated is the goal. No style points needed.

4. Southern California- USC is still lurking in the national title picture. This week's visit to Notre Dame shouldn't be a problem.

5. Virginia Tech- ACC title will be on the line when they visit Georgia Tech this weekend. The loss to Alabama looks more and more respectable as each week passes.

6. Miami (FL)- The tough part of the schedule is over and a one-loss season looks like a real possibility.

7. Ohio State- It took down national pretender Wisconsin and now is waiting on November meetings with Penn State and Iowa.

8. Iowa - Nice home win against Michigan. The Hawkeyes are no longer pretenders, but a loss against Wisconsin this week could change that perception.

9. Boise?State - Struggle against?FCS opponent Cal-Davis, then have a bye week. Being out of sight, out?of mind will hurt the Broncos down the stretch.

10. LSU - The defense showed up in Baton Rouge while the offense was stuck in traffic in Gonzales, La. Offensive coordinator Gary?Crowton has a lot of work this bye week.

11. Cincinnati - The visit to South Florida this week could shake out the Big East picture. The Bearcats still have a lot to prove to voters.

12. Texas Christian - A shaky win on the road at Air Force convinces me this squad is not a national contender.?BCS buster is their only goal now.

13. Penn State - A 52-3 win against Eastern Illinois - boooring. The Rose Bowl is the only goal this team can accomplish because there are no?BCS title plans this year.

14. Oregon - So much for Boise State game wrecking the season. A road tilt at Washington and home matchup with USC could both go in the win column for the Ducks.

15. Kansas - Barely beat Big 12 cellar?dweller Iowa State at home? Once the competition is raised, Jayhawks will fall.

16. Oklahoma State - A road win at Texas?A&M is nothing to get excited about; meanwhile, a home win at Texas in three weeks is a different story.

17. Brigham Young - Road win at UNLV will not make up for atrocious loss to Florida State. I'm still scratching my head over that clunker.

18. Oklahoma - Sam Bradford to the rescue! Too little, too late for the Sooners, though. Ruining Texas' season is No. 1 on the list now.

19. Georgia Tech - The track meet win at Florida State gives the Yellow Jackets confidence as the?Hokies descend on Atlanta on Saturday night. This could be the upset of the weekend.

20. Nebraska - Scoring 27 unanswered fourth quarter points against Missouri was one of the best comebacks of the year. Head Coach Bo?Pelini is reaching mythical status in Lincoln, Neb., very quickly.

21. South Florida - The win at Florida State is starting to look less impressive by the week. Beat Cincinnati, on the other hand, and you're a top 10 contender.

22. South Carolina - Is the visor back? Not so fast my friend - a road trip to Alabama will humble the Gamecocks quickly.

23. Mississippi - I didn't expect Alabama upset, but 3 points? That's it? Indy Bowl could be a nice landing point for the Rebels.

24. Pittsburgh - Are the Panthers for real? I say no, but a weak Big East Conference could be Pitt's?for the taking.

25. Notre Dame - Still in the?BCS picture somehow. A win over USC could get Charlie Weis off the hot seat and put the Irish back to national respectability.
