BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery is hoping to honor injured South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore by switching his jersey to Lattimore's number 21.

South Carolina beat reporter Josh Kendall first reported the news Wednesday on Twitter.

Lattimore, one of the top collegiate running backs in the country, had a devastating, career-threatening knee injury last weekend.

Montgomery is from South Carolina nad is reportedly a close friend of Lattimore’s.
