BATON ROUGE -- LSU head coach Les Miles offered little details about Tryann Mathieu's possible return to the football team Tuesday, saying only that Mathieu won't be on the sidelines for the Tigers for the 2012-2013 season.

“I am not in any way speculating. He will not be on this football team this year – I guarantee that’s a fact. So I have no idea beyond that,” said Miles.

Mathieu was dismissed from the LSU football team for a violation of team policy on Friday.

Some reports have contended that Mathieu wants to return to the Tigers after sitting out for the season. Miles, however, wished Mathieu the best, before turning his focus on the current roster and the current season.

“I certainly am rooting for Tyrann and whatever his future is," said Miles. "But I’m not focused on that. I’ve got games to play and I’ve got 104 guys I have to be ready for. I know that this is a very key time in his life and I hope the decisions that he makes are in his best interest for the long-term. So we’ll help in any way we can.”

If Mathieu doesn't return to the Tigers, smaller Louisiana schools such as McNeese State are reportedly places that he could end up resuming his college football career.

When Miles was asked what he says to schools interested in getting Mathieu to play for them, Miles replied, "I recommend him. He’s a wonderful young man. I think he’s a team player. I think he’s improved in his maturity and that’s kind of how I would speak about him – that he deserves every opportunity.”
