BATON ROUGE, La -- Thirty-eight children from a week-long camp for children with cancer and their siblings spent their July 12 at Louisiana State University receiving signed autographs and more from senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger.

Mettenberger spoke to the group participating in Camp Care, a program by the Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge for children coping with a cancer diagnosis or the cancer diagnosis of a parent.

Children ranging from ages five to 13 also played football on the Anderson-Feazel Indoor Field, said LSU Athletics spokesman Matt Dunaway.

“It was a very humbling experience to get to hang out with these courageous kids,” Mettenberger said.

The children toured the LSU Football Operations Center with Justin Vincent, assistant director of player personnel, who later showed them a football highlight video.

The visit to LSU was the last activity before Camp Care’s closing ceremonies.
