BATON ROUGE, La. -- No one can accuse Les Miles of running away from a tough opponent because, for the second time in three years, the Tigers will open the season against a nationally ranked team, and both games will have taken place in Arlington, Texas.

Two seasons ago, the Tigers beat third-ranked Oregon, 40-27, and Saturday, the Tigers will face 20th ranked TCU.

Tigers’ head coach Les Miles agreed that TCU is a tough team to open with.

“You look at our season," Miles said, "and you recognize that we have a very, very ambitious schedule in front of us, and for us not to really start fast would be a mistake."

"Really it's really an ideal style of opponent. We're going to have to play well to do the things that we want to do against TCU, and hopefully we catch a speed, if you will, in execution that will allow us to be prepared as we go into the meat of the SEC schedule.”

Where the team is right now, in limbo over running back Jeremy Hill’s status, Miles hinted that his once suspended back could be on the trip to Texas, but not necessarily playing.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have been game planning for the Horned Frogs, and their dual quarterback system since late last week, and it is still a work in progress.

“I think both are athletic and I think both can throw. It's the same offense, it just might be a different skill set. They can both pass, but maybe just a little bit different view of some of the things that they do,” said Miles.

Whether or not Jeremy Hill plays this weekend, running back Alfred Blue’s role in the offense does not change. He is first on the depth chart and is anxious to see his first game action in nearly a full calendar year.

Kenny Hilliard is right behind Blue on the depth chart and Franklinton alum Terrance McGee is also on there, but behind Jeremy Hill.

The LSU Tigers will play the TCU Horned Frogs Saturday night in Dallas for the Cowboy Classic.
