NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane football team returned to the practice field in preparation for a match-up against Ole Miss Saturday as Devon Walker, who suffered a severe spinal injury, remains in a Tulsa hospital.
The game will be Tulane’s first since Walker, a senior safety was hurt.
While the team readies for the Ole Miss game, Walker, who was injured Sept. 8 late in the game during a 45-10 loss to Tulsa, is expected to be moved from the Oklahoma hospital in the next to 24-48 hours.
Tulane said Walker would be moved to a location that would not be disclosed per family request.
The statement issued late Monday said: He is alert and actively participating in respiratory and other therapies that are part of his recovery.
Head coach Curtis Johnson addressed the media about the Ole Miss game and several fundraising efforts to help Walker’s family deal with medical costs. Numerous fundraising efforts have already been held by students to assist Walker and his family.
