NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints have apparently decided to keep both John Carney and Garrett Hartley.

The team waived 3rd string quarterback Chase Daniel Monday to make room for the two kickers.

Hartley's back in the lineup after a four-game suspension for failing a drug test, and is likely part of the Saints' long-term plans at the kicker position.

Past decisions may have affected the Saints' decision. Two years ago head coach Sean Payton decided to let Carney walk in favor of Olindo Mare to disastrous results. Payton later admitted that was a mistake.
