In a video published on NFL.com Friday afternoon, Saints head coach Sean Payton all but said there’s no doubt that Reggie Bush will be back with the team next year.
Bush told the segment’s hosts that there will be some tough offseason decisions, but that Bush wouldn’t be one of them.
“There’s a tremendous value in what he brings,” he said. “We like what we have in that player. Each offseason there are tough decisions you have to make. We don’t anticipate that being one of them.”
Payton was a little less certain about safety Darren Sharper. Payton said that the team never intended to place a franchise tag on Sharper.
He said Sharper had a “tremendous season” in 2009. He said he wants the organization to stay in touch with Sharper to let him know where they stand. He said he would love to have Sharper back.
Payton also touched on the draft and said that picking 32nd, the team is more likely to pick the best player left on their board instead of worrying as much about need.
