NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a one-year contract with backup quarterback Chase Daniel.
Daniel has been with the team since their championship run in 2009, when he came into the league as an undrafted free agent.
Daniel completed 4-5 passes for 29 yards in 2011, but appeared in every game as the club's holder, including a completion on a fake field goal.
Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said the team likes Daniel's performance, both on and off the field.
“Ever since Chase joined our team in 2009, he’s continued to work hard and progress on the practice field, in the meeting room and in the weight room,” said Loomis. “His work ethic has served him well as he’s continued his development for us at the quarterback position.”
The terms of the contract were not released.
