NEW ORLEANS -- The long wait for Tyrann Mathieu is over. The explosive former LSU defensive back was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.
Mathieu was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft, the 69th pick overall, joining former LSU defensive back Patrick Peterson in Arizona.
"I'm ready to the play football," Mathieu told ESPN after being drafted. A Hiesman Trophy finalist and a possible first-round pick in the draft he saw his draft stock plumment after drug issues forced LSU to toss Mathieu off the team.
