MONROE, La. (AP) -- Amber Donnes scored 14 points to lead the St. Thomas Aquinas Lady Falcons defeated John Curtis, 49-42 to capture the 2013 LHSAA Class 2A girls championship Saturday afternoon in Monroe.

Carly Keller also had seven pints to go along with seven rebounds to help St. Thomas Aquinas (30-5) capture their first state championship since 2010.

Kolby Morgan led John Curtis (24-8) with a game-high 16 points and Tia Charles had 11 points and four rebounds.

John Curtis would get as close as 41-40 late in the fourth quarter on a Morgan basket with 2:06 to go in the game, but Keller would hit a pair of free throws to put the game out of reach and give the Lady Falcons the championship.
