Hornets starting shooting guard Morris Peterson missed New Orleans' game against Golden State on Wednesday night because of a viral infection, team officials said.

Peterson has averaged 8.5 points this season, playing an average of about 25 minutes per game. He had played in 42 of the Hornets' previous 44 games.
It was a blow to a backcourt already missing reserve guard Bobby Jackson, who left a game on Jan. 18 with a strained right hamstring and has not played since.
Jannero Pargo, who has averaged nearly 15 points coming off the bench in his previous four games, got the start in Peterson's absence.
