Henderson: Sean Payton "gets it"

Sean Payton gets it. He’s firm, but he’s fair. What he does makes sense.

What he did in letting the players get out of their cars in front of the Superdome, and having them walk through the crowd, was a great idea for both the players and the fans. It let the players know just how much the fans cared and how much this meant. I don’t think anyone on the professional level has ever done that.

He said all the right things before the game and afterward. He was emotional. You could see it on the sideline.

I never thought Jim Haslett felt comfortable in New Orleans, never thought he fit in here or that he cared too much for the fans.

Payton has fit in better in three games than Haslett did in six years.

The way he conducts himself permeates the whole team. They’re business-like and classy. It’s set a real good tone.

I’ve had plenty of people tell me that win or lose, they’ve been proud of this team because of the way they’ve played and the way they’ve conducted themselves.
