CROWELL, Texas (AP) — A former high school football coach and athletic director in North Texas is serving 100 days in jail for an improper relationship with a student.
Ex- coach Brandon Roberts was sentenced Tuesday in Crowell. Roberts pleaded guilty to felony improper relationship with a female student.
An anonymous letter to the Foard County Sheriff's Office, received in March 2010, prompted the investigation. The 27-year-old educator was arrested in June.
The allegations went back to 2008 when the girl attended Crowell High School. She's now in college.
Roberts also must serve 10 years of probation, do 100 hours of community service and pay a $5,000 fine. He's been forced to give up his certificate to teach in Texas.
Crowell is a town of about 900, located 220 miles northwest of Dallas.
