MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) — Kevin Jackson has been hired as football coach at Moss Point High School
Superintendent Kim Staley tells The Mississippi Press that Jackson, who spent the last two seasons at Collins High School north of Hattiesburg, was approved during a special meeting of the Moss Point School Board on Monday. Stanley says Jackson will be the first black head football coach at any school in Jackson County since integration.
Jackson, a defensive lineman at Southern Mississippi in the early 1990s, went 14-11 with two playoff appearances at Collins. He replaces Lewis Sims, who was hired as football coach at Pascagoula High School last month.
