GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Furman football coach Bruce Fowler has kicked three players off the team and suspended two more after drug arrests on campus.

University officials say sophomore defensive end Aaron Riley, junior cornerback Jordan Griffin, and freshman linebacker Tim Lawrence were arrested Thursday night. All three face distribution of marijuana charges.

Griffin was a two-year starter who had 40 tackles in 2010. Riley started six games last season and had 21 tackles, while Lawrence had 10 tackles last season.

Fowler suspended indefinitely junior linebacker Sterling Johnson, who was charged with interfering with police, and sophomore safety Nathan Wade, who was cited for possession of marijuana.

Johnson started seven games in 2010 with 35 tackles. Wade has started 20 games in his Furman career, and had 63 tackles and three interceptions last year.
