SUMRALL, Miss. (AP) — Sumrall High School has hired Shannon White as its new football coach.

White replaces Mark McHale, who was dismissed as the Bobcats' coach in March.

The Hattiesburg American reports that the Bobcats were 3-8 last season under McHale. Sumrall has not had a winning season in football since 1995.

In 13 seasons as a head coach, 10 at Taylorsville and three at North Forrest, White's record is 125-44, including state championship seasons at Taylorsville in 1998 and 2002.

White spent the 2010 season as defensive backs coach at Petal after three successful seasons at North Forrest.
