PEDRENA, Spain (AP) — Hall of Fame golfer Seve Ballesteros (SEH'-vee by-ehs-TEHR'-ohs) is being laid to rest today in his native fishing village in northern Spain. The five-time major winner died Saturday at age 54 from complications of a cancerous brain tumor.

CHICAGO (AP) — NBA MVP Derrick Rose scored 33 points and his Bulls move within a win of the Eastern Conference finals with a 95-83 victory over the visiting Hawks. Chicago takes a 3-2 series lead into Game 6 on Thursday night in Atlanta.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Andrew Bynum has been suspended for five games without pay next season for his flagrant foul on Dallas guard J.J. Barea in the Lakers' final playoff game on Sunday. The league also fined the Lakers center 25-grand for ripping off his jersey while heading to the locker room. Added up, the suspension will cost Bynum more than $700,000.

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Red Wings are a win away from becoming the fourth team to overcome a 3-0 deficit to win an NHL playoff series following a 3-1 victory over the visiting Sharks. Game 7 will be played Thursday night in San Jose.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Cardinals manager Tony La Russa missed last night's 6-4 win over the Cubs in Chicago, and according to club officials, their skipper will miss the rest of his team's road trip as well, after being diagnosed with shingles. Bench coach Joe Pettini ran the team last night and will continue to do so in La Russa's absence.
