Coach hired for Brookhaven Academy. girls team

BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — Ginger Duease is the new coach of Brookhaven Academy's girls basketball program.

The Daily Leader reports Duease will coach the varsity and junior high programs.

Duease replaces Barry Gray who stepped down three weeks ago after 16 years as coach.

Gray coached the Lady Cougars to the MAIS Overall Tournament crown and a 31-4 record this season. He won six Class AA State Tournament championships during his tenure and two overall titles, the first in 2004.

Duease graduated from Delta State University in 1999.

She began her coaching career at Hillcrest Christian as an assistant. She also coached at Sylva Bay Academy in Bay Springs and All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg. She was head coach at Greenville Washington School the last five years, finishing this season with 21-12 record.
