VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) — Former Bayou Academy assistant Wade Patrick was been hired as Porters Chapel Academy's new football and baseball coach.

Patrick, a Vicksburg native, had been an assistant in both sports at Bayou since 2006 and helped the Colts to a combined five championship appearances. They won two baseball titles.

The Vicksburg Post reports this is Patrick's first head coaching job. He also has had stints as an assistant for the Arena Football League's Georgia Force and at Hinds Community College.

PCA was dealt a one-two punch last month when baseball coach Jerry Bourne and football coach John Weaver left for other jobs within a week of each other. Bourne was hired as an assistant at Vicksburg High, and Weaver as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Madison-Ridgeland Academy.
