PORT GIBSON, Miss. (AP) — Twenty-two players — 11 each from the Port Gibson and Raymond high school football teams — have been suspended for a week.
Mississippi High School Activities Association associate director Rickey Neaves tells the Vicksburg Post (http://bit.ly/nuqzuE) that each school was fined $500.
The MHSAA's action came in response to last Friday's on-field fight in Port Gibson.
Neaves says the MHSAA is still reviewing the film and talking to the coaches.
Officials say the fight resulted in the game being stopped in the third quarter with Port Gibson ahead, 38-10. Port Gibson was declared the winner.
