AMITE, La. (AP) — For her birthday, Judge Blair Edwards traded her robes for Yankee pinstripes.

The 21st Judicial District judge is attending the New York Yankees Women's Mini-Fantasy Camp in Tampa, Fla., this weekend, according to The Daily Star of Hammond.

Her husband, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards, gave her the trip as a gift. And the judge, who has been a baseball fan all her life, says it's a dream come true.

She arrived at the camp Thursday, her 44th birthday, and attended an introductory dinner where she met fellow campers and the former Yankees players who will serve as coaches. Her fellow players are women from all across the country who love the game.

The camp, which ends Sunday, includes classes, practices and games on the George M. Steinbrenner field where the New York Yankees hold spring training.

The camp raises money for charity and will include an auction, where Judge Edwards may be able to collect some Yankees memorabilia and prizes. She will also receive an official Yankees uniform to keep.
