HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Southeastern Louisiana University defensive back Robert Alford has been selected to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl.

The selection marks the first for the university since 1970 when All-American Ronnie Hornsby was named a defensive co-captain and scored the South's lone touchdown on an interception return.

Alford, who has earned first-team All-Southland Conference honors, is expected to become Southeastern's first NFL draft selection since the school resumed football in 2003. He's recorded 39 tackles this season, leading the team with four interceptions.

The 2013 Senior Bowl is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26 in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium and will be nationally televised by the NFL Network. Kickoff is to be announced.
