STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Colin Borchert had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Mississippi State to a 97-47 win over New Orleans on Thursday night in nonconference action. Mississippi State shot 56.5 percent from the field and hit a season-high 10 3-pointers. New Orleans shot only 33.3 percent from the field and turned the ball over 23 times.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Daveon Boardingham and Cedric Jenkins scored 22 points each and Southern Mississippi scored the first 12 points of the game and cruised to a 135-41 victory over Dillard on Thursday night. The 135 points were the most ever for the Golden Eagles, surpassing the 133 they scored against Virginia Tech in 1988.

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Fred Hunter scored 19 points and T.J. Carpenter had 17 to lead Nicholls State to an 83-79 victory over Central Arkansas in both teams' Southland Conference opener. Jeremy Smith scored 16 points and Shane Rillieux 15 for the Colonels, who snapped a seven-game losing streak.

MONROE, La. (AP) — Augustine Rubit scored a career-high 32 points with 13 rebounds and South Alabama led wire-to-wire in a 77-72 Sun Belt Conference win over Louisiana-Monroe on Thursday night. The Jaguars shot 59.1 percent, including 61.1 percent in the second half, one game after their worst shooting night of the season.
