GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — Southern University remained undefeated in Southwestern Athletic Conference play Sunday night with an 82-43 victory over Grambling State. The Jaguars have won five consecutive games, a streak that started with a 53-51 win at Texas A&M of the Southeastern Conference and also includes wins over conference opponents Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M.

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) — Davon Usher scored 23 of his 27 points in the second half as Mississippi Valley State earned its first victory of the season, defeating Alabama A&M 79-68 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game Sunday night. Darius Tomlin added 15 of his 21 points in the second half, when the Delta Devils shot 57.1 percent to expand a 25-24 halftime lead.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Marquiz Baker scored 18 points and Anthony Nieves 17 as Alcorn State defeated Jackson State 51-48 Sunday night after trailing by 10 points at halftime. Nieves scored nine straight points to cut a 34-24 Jackson State second-half lead to one point before a layup by Marius Myles gave the Braves a 35-34 lead with 8:39 remaining.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Aleighsa Welch led South Carolina with 16 points and seven rebounds as the Gamecocks rolled over Mississippi State 60-46 Sunday for their first Southeastern Conference victory of the year. Welch was 5-of-9 shooting and made 6 of 8 from the foul line.
